I had the great pleasure to meet and hang with the Conversion Doctor (aka Eric Graham) in Atlanta this weekend.

Eric has done some testing on whether pictures of women convert better than pictures of men.  He found that in most cases, an attractive woman will outpull a picture of a man.

I find it interesting that the women has to be "attractive" but he gives no such qualifier for the man’s photo.  He does go on to say that there is a lot of variation in the data (like maybe what’s considered "attractive"?) that depends on factors such as who the seller and customer are, and what the product is.

Interestingly, the woman must be attractive, but not "too" attractive, according to Graham, especially when the product is directed specifically to women.  You can read his original post here
